German courses

TaalTaal offers quality German courses on several levels. Our groups are small and dynamic, so you will have lots of personal attention and guidance.

The new season starts in the week of 18 January 2021 and consists of 11 lessons of 90 minutes.

Adapted schedule: in-person lessons will begin the week of February 8th. The online lessons do start in the week of January 18th. Please contact us if you'd like to join a running class.

It is possible to sign up for a course that is already running. Please take into account about 2.5 hours of self-study next to the regular courses.

German Level 6 (A2)

Result after the course:  Speaking becomes easier all the time and you will feel more confident. You are able to compare things and formulate sub-clauses( cause and effect) As well as able to discuss well-known subjects like living, food, hobbies, work situations, and live in general, you can also discuss politics in a simple manner, voice your opinion about cultural and other themes.

German Level 7 (A2+)

Description:  All your knowledge accumulated so far is partly repeated and deepened. In the past, you will now also get to know the so-called 'Mischverben'. The verbs with prepositions will once again be discussed, among other things. Through the 'Konjunktiv II' (adjoining wise) you are able to ask polite questions and formulate (unrealistic) wishes. Furthermore, making the suffering form ('Passiv') plays a role. It talks about time and how you entertain yourself with, among other things, museums, art, reading, watching TV and other media and what your day looks like. In addition to your work and your profession, communication in the working environment (telephone, e-mail) is also an important topic of this course. You will not only speak more fluently and in a more nuanced way, but your own experiences and especially your own opinion will increasingly play an important role.

German Level 10

Description:  Having successfully achieved level B1, you are now going to further improve this during the present course. You are going to broaden and deepen your knowledge you have acquired so far and further develop your skills by covering interesting topics such as: school memories, interpersonal relations, living circumstances, travelling and contact with other cultures. Various grammar topics, including modal auxiliary verbs, the past tense, the use of adjectives and prepositions and the direct form (Passiv) will be repeated and deepened. The grammar, together with your ever-expanding vocabulary, provides the basis for your communication, which will continue to grow and improve. Although listening and reading will be covered extensively, the main focus of this course will be on 'producing' the language, i.e. speaking and writing. You will be working on improving the ability to express yourself by discussions, commenting on graphs, writing letters and composing oral and written summaries.

German/EN Level 1 (A0+)

For whom:  Students who wish to have all explanations given in English. No other knowledge is required.

Result after the course:  You have a basic knowledge of the German language and you are able to hold short, simple conversations to get to know someone, but also tell about yourself and your hobbies. You are able to make reservations for a room in a hotel. You have gradually developed your vocabulary. During the course you will get familiar with the possessive pronouns, the regular verbs and the various definite and indefinite articles. Apart from the nominative case you will have learnt about the much used accusative case. From short texts, e.g. about the family, you are able to find the most important information.

German/EN Level 3 (A1)

For whom:  German/EN Level 3 is aimed at students who prefer English as the language of instruction.

Result after the course:  You have improved your speaking skills with conversations about the weather, holiday- experiences, your accommodation and situations at the doctor’s surgery. You have no problems in fashion shops or buying a train ticket. You have had a conversation about real- estate, congratulated someone, accepted or refused invitations. You know about the dative case with the several prepositions( which can be followed by a dative or accusative) verbs with the dative and accusative. And you know the rules on comparison and superlative. You know the modal verbs in the present tense and the simple past tense. You can understand newspaper articles and similar short informative texts and you can have a discussion about them.You are also able to express yourself better in writing.

Intensive German Course

Description: An intensive course is given privately (for 1 person) and consists of 15 contact hours divided over 1 or 2 weeks, for example 5 consecutive days of 3 hours each. The exact configuration can be discussed with the teacher for best possible results. Please do take into account time needed for self-study and homework.
